How to Manage Article Containers
  • Searching for Existing Article Containers
The top section of the Article Containers tab can be used to search for existing article containers. The following options can be searched for.
    • Article Container Editor - Provides a drop down lost of users who have edited article containers. If you know who edited the article container you are looking for, select him or her to narrow your search to article containers edited by the specific person.
    • Article Label - Provides a drop down list of all created and default labels. If you know one of the labels assigned to the article container you are looking for, select it to narrow your search to article containers with that specific label.
    • Name - If you know the name of the article container you are looking for, type it here to find your article container.
    • Status - Provides a drop down list of article container statuses: draft, pending, and published. Selecting an option will narrow the search down to that specific status.
    • Search - Once you have selected your desired search options, click this button.
    • Reset - Click this button to clear the search and start over with a fresh search.
The bottom section of the Article Containers tab is a list of existing articles. This list is also where your article container search results will be displayed. If you cannot find an existing article container in the list, make sure a search is not excluding it.

    Editing Article Containers

In order to edit and article container, click its Edit pencil.
The Standard Component sections will be made available. See Standard Component Sections Help for more information.
The remaining four parts of this section will examine the four tabs in the Article Container Editor: General Tab, Rendering Tab, Labels Tab, and Web Syndication Tab.

    General Tab

Heading/Title - Text entered here will appear to the user, near the top of the article container.
Container Style - This drop down menu contains options for how your article container will appear on the page and how articles will be displayed when using the article container.
    • Boxed - This style will display the articles in boxes within the article container. These boxes are DIV elements which the site designer can use to adjust the layout of the article container.
    • Collapsible content - This style is used to create a list of collapsible articles, meaning that the user will be able to click on an article in the list and expand or hide the article content on the same page. Because the content is displayed on the same page, an Article Viewing Component does not need to be used with this container style. By default, the heading of the article will be the trigger to collapse and expand the article content. When the content is collapsed, the teaser is shown below the header. When the content is expanded, the content of the article is shown below the header. This style is typically used to present FAQ's (Frequently Asked Questions), where the heading represents the question, the teaser represents a short answer to the question, and the content represents the full answer to the question/heading.
    • Remember Shown/Hidden State - If this option is checked, the container will remember which articles are collapsed or expanded across multiple page views.
    • Exclusive Selection - If this option is checked, only one article will be expanded at a time.
    • Show/Hide Trigger - The trigger can be changed from heading if you wish. Select which property you want to function as the trigger.
    • List - This style will simply display the articles in a list.
    • Rotating Headline - This style will rotate through the list of articles, showing only one or a few articles at a time.
    • Reading Speed - Here you can select the rate of rotation measured in words per minute.
    • Show articles at a time - Enter how many articles you want to be displayed at a time. The default is one article at a time.
View Article Page - This option links your article container to an article viewer. The drop down menu provides a list of all pages with an Article Viewing Component added to it. Select which page you want your articles to be displayed on.

View Article Link - Select which article property you want to serve as a link to open up the main article content in the article viewer. Options include Heading, Sub Heading, Teaser, Content, Release Time/Post Time, Update Time, Author, or Copyright. Make sure that your selected options is being rendered in the Article Container. See the Rendering Tab below.

Optional Link Label - If you do not want to use one of the article properties as a link, you can create a custom link here. Type in your desired text in the text field. The text will be linked to the article viewer on your website. Example text: Click here to read full article.

Maximum Articles Displayed - The number entered here sets the maximum number of articles that can be displayed in the article container. If you have published more articles than the maximum allows, the first however many articles based on your Article Order will be displayed. If you have not set an Article Order, the most recent will be displayed.

Article Order - Here you can select the order in which you want your articles to be displayed. By default, articles will be displayed in the order in which they are posted. Otherwise, you can organize your articles alphabetically or chronologically by Author, Copyright, Heading, Release Time/Post Time, Sub Heading, or Update Time.

    Rendering Tab

Use the Rendering tab to choose which article properties will be displayed in the article container. Check the boxes of your desired properties in the Show column. The properties will appear in this order in the article container. Use the arrows to adjust the order in which these properties will appear. When choosing which properties to render, remember that the article viewer is used to display the main content of the article, not the article container.

    Labels Tab

Labels control which articles in your article container. Assigning your article container a label will ensure that all articles with the same label will appear in the article container. After selecting an existing label from the drop down menu, you must click add, or the label will not be added to the container. To create a new label, simply click the Create New Label button, type in your desired label, and click save. When adding labels to articles or other article containers, the new label will now appear in the existing labels drop down menu. The Current Labels sections displays all of the labels that have been added to the article container. Multiply labels can be added. Click the trash can to re move a label from the article container.

    • Creating a live bookmark to the article container, meaning not only is the article container page bookmarked but so is every article in the article container. The bookmark is automatically updated when the article container is.
    • Adding the article container to search engine home pages so the user will have access to your updated articles every time they visit their Google or Yahoo homepages.
    • Providing access to your article container through other web and computer programs.
The RSS function is particularly useful if you frequently update the articles in your article container, such as news articles.
